Some of aggrieved youth of Buipe in the Central Gonja District has vandalised the homes of some fulani setlers at Mande, a newly curved suburb in Buipe.
According to reports, the alleged action of the youth is as a result of the appointment of one Ibrahim Musah Bure as a Fulani youth chief for the new suburb, Mande and the alleged allocation of bulk plots to Fulani extractions.
The report also says that before the arson by the youth, they have been met by a 7 member committee set up by the paramount chief of the area, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II to come out with recommendations to help address the concerns of the youth for peace to prevail in the area.
According to committee chairman Danyanpewura Iddisah Mahama, the recommendations of the committee including one requesting for the annulment of the appointment of Ibrahim Musah Bure as a Fulani youth chief were laid before the Buipe paramount chief for readdress which the chief adopted and set Monday 16th January, 2023 for the annulment of Bure’s appointment.
It is however unclear what triggered the vandalism as Chief’s and elders of Buipe were present at the Jinapor Palace Monday morning waiting for the denouncement of Bure as a Fulani youth chief when reports of the arson got the Palace.
Meanwhile reports says the police has so far arrested 9 suspects in connecting with the arson with investigations still ongoing.
Some fulani homes at Mande including that of the destooled chief has been raised down destroying several properties.
