Ghana’s vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured the King of Gonja Yagbonwura Tutumba Bore Essa (I) that a modern model school will be constructed by the NPP government at Busunu, a community on the Damongo -Tamale road in the Damongo constituency of the Savannah region.
The vice President explain that a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) ultra modern school will be built at Busunu to uplift education and skills development in the area. STEM-based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts. The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop a variety of skill sets, including creativity and 21st-century skills.
The vice president disclosed this when he visited the Jakpa palace at Damongo to thank Yagbonwura Tutumba Bore Essa (I) on Monday, 14th February, 2022 for the support during death and final funeral rites of his late mother, Hajia Mariam.
The vice president further stated that the Laribanga SHS will soon commence operations and students will be admitted latest from the next two academic years.
President Akuffo-Addo cut sod for the commencement of the Damongo water project in July 2020, but till date construction for the water project has not started.
The vice president said mobilization has been completed on the Damongo water project and assured that soon, the contractor will move site.
Recently, QGMI constructions ltd have been working on asphalt relay over Damongo township roads to improve the roads. The vice president commended the MP for Damongo Constituency, Abu Jinapor Samuel on the role played in getting the Damongo township roads upgraded to asphalt, and described the efforts as “action speaks louder than words”. He said government’s good policy projects such as planting for food and jobs, free SHS, and a host of others, are a testimony that will make the people of Gonja judge between them and their opponents.
The vice president thanked the Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa (I) and people of Gonjaland for the love and support shown him and his family after the mother’s death in September 2021, and subsequent final funeral rites performance.
Abu Jinapor, MP for Damongo Constituency appealed to the Gonja state to support the vice president with prayers because “the vice president has served well and by God’s grace, he will be served by others very soon and whatever benefits that come out of it will surely be beneficial to Gonja state, so pray for Dr. Bawumia”.
Savannah and northern regional ministers, family of Dr Bawumia, MDCEs, regional, municipal and assembly directors, MPs, NPP party executives, among others came with the vice president.
