The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah has donated assorted relief items to some affected victims who were displaced after a heavy downpour on Monday 30th August, 2021.
The items valued thousands of Ghana cedis include; twenty (20) bags of cement, twenty-seven (27) pieces of plastic buckets, ten (10) pieces of sleeping mats, five (5) student size mattresses, fifteen (15) basins, twenty-seven (27) pieces of blankets, five (5) bags of rice, two (2) medium-sized gallons of cooking oil, two (2) trips of sand and some amount of cash was given to some of the affected individuals.
Presenting the items, the Chief Operations Officer from the office of the MP Alhaji Inusah Mahama explained that, the donation by Hajia Zuwera is to help lessen the burden on the victims as a result of the devastation. The MP further indicated that, she is committed to working closely with the Municipal Assembly to ensure that the construction defects on the gutters and culverts that have been identified as being the main cause of the flooding are corrected.
Some of the victims who spoke to media stations present during the presentation expressed gratitude to Hon. Hajia Zuwera for the gesture, saying the items had come at the right time to ease their plight.
The Municipal NADMO Director Mr. Alhassan Suraj thanked the Member of Parliament for supporting and responding to their request after the flooding.
Other dignitaries present during the presentation include; Constituency Executives and some officials from the office of the MP.
