Hon Yussif Sulemana, the Member of Parliament for the Bole–Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has ushered in the New Year with a humanitarian outreach, bringing relief to over 400 widows and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in the constituency.
To mark the first day of 2026, the MP donated food items and clothing to the beneficiaries, each of whom received three pieces of cloth and a 5kg bag of rice to support their New Year celebrations.
Beyond the immediate support, Hon. Sulemana announced that the beneficiaries would also enjoy free renewal of their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards to ensure unhindered access to healthcare services. He further disclosed plans to organize free health screening exercises for them in the coming days.

In an address, he highlighted that the initiative forms part of efforts to build a beneficial relationship with them while providing practical interventions to improve their welfare. He shared personal reflections on the challenges widows endure, noting that he understands their plight firsthand, having been raised by a widow.
Hon. Sulemana assured the beneficiaries of expanded intervention in subsequent years to cover more communities within the constituency and, ultimately, the Savannah Region.
He also appealed to corporate Ghana, NGOs, CSOs, benevolent individuals, and government appointees to complement such efforts, emphasizing that widows lose their spouses through no fault of their own and deserve sustained care and compassion.

The Deputy Lands and Natural Resources minister further revealed plans to organize widows into an association to facilitate easier engagement and timely support whenever the need arises.
He used the occasion to extend New Year goodwill to the beneficiaries and the entire Bole–Bamboi Constituency.
