The St.Anne’s Catholic hospital in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region has introduced it’s new Medical Director, Dr. Nelson Agboadoh and two other new Medical officers to the king of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) and other key stakeholders and institutions in the municipality including; the West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Health Directorate and Regional Health Directorate
The introduction of the new Medical Officers was led by the Damongo Diocesan Health Director, Mr. Aiden Ngmenbon on Thursday 4th May, 2023 with a courtesy call on the overlord and king of the Gonja Kingdom at his palace and later proceeded to the offices of the other stakeholders.
According to the team, their visit to the various stakeholders was to familiarise themselves with the stakeholders and officially introduce the new Doctors of the hospital to them.
At the King’s Palace, the Management of the hospital congratulated the king on his successful enskinment to the highest stool of the Gonja Kingdom and noted that as health workers operating in in Kingdom, the saw the need to pay homage to him.
In the team’s interactions with the stakeholders, it was disclosed that the hospital currently has six medical doctors out of which some will be leaving for further studies.
At the Municipal Health Directorate, the Municipal Health Director, Madam Gertrude Yentumi thanked them for coming and expressed her happiness over the coming of the new Doctors to the Hospital with particular thanks to Dr. Ahmed Gbolo Gbeadese, who is a Gonja adding that she believes he will help elevate the hospital through the language.
The Diocesan Health Director, Mr. Aiden Ngmenbon upon meeting with the Savannah Regional Health Directorate staff lamented on the misinformation about the hospital not having doctors on the grounds and said, it baffles him when he hears people saying they don’t have doctors at the hospital.
He added that, the misinformation peddled by the some health workers who are supposed to know the truth is flying so fast and therefore painting a bad image for the facility.
The Regional Health Directorate on their part expressed their readiness to give the needed support to the new Doctors to enable them deliver quality heath care to the people of the Municipality.
Dr. Nelson Agboadoh, the newly appointed Medical Director of the St Anne’s hospital on behalf of his colleagues assured the Savannah Regional Health Directorate of their readiness to work hand in hand with the various stakeholders in the Municipality to ensure the deliver quality health care to the people of West Gonja and beyond.
He also noted that, considering his rank in the medical profession, he will dedicate himself to work towards saving lives, adding that, he had better offers from other hospitals where he would have been working in a teaching hospital and lecturing but chose to stay in the St Anne’s hospital to help in serving and saving human lives and not the money.
The West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Musah Karim Kusubari noted that the appointment of the new Medical Director and doctors is a welcoming news to the hospital and the people of the Municipality and will also elevate the status of the hospital to serve its purpose of health delivery in the area and therefore called on the Medical Director, Dr Nelson and the other doctors to be patient in the discharge of their duties, admonishing them not to be worried about their colleagues in bigger hospitals but rather remain focused on the human lives that they will be saving.

The MCE added that there has been several misconceptions and informations about the hospital not having doctors and assured that the Municipality will help to spread the good news and also work hand in hand to support the hospital to grow.
He also acknowledged that, it is a plus to the hospital when senior doctors that could have worked in bigger hospitals opted to work in the St Anne’s hospital.
The other new doctors are; Dr. Kwabena Okyere-Darko and Dr Ahmed Gbolo Gbeadese.
